Summer Success Part #1!

Every summer I want to make amazing family memories… this summer is no exception

In order to do this, I know I need to be – in the words of Steven Covey says in “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” – PROACTIVE!

The simple way i explain being proactive to my tween clients is to tell them “we prepare for issues BEFORE they are issues.”

So here are my TOP 5 TIPS and TOOLS for being PROACTIVE and making it s GREAT SUMMER for EVERYONE in your family!

Summer Success Tip #1 : CHECKLISTS

This is as basic as it sounds – talk with your kiddos NOW about what each day and week over the summer needs to look like. Include chores for sure, but also the fun stuff! How often and what kinds of art, music, atheltics, and other fun stuff do you want to make sure you are including each day or week? Put it on a checklist and it is MUCH more likely to get done!

Summer Success Tip #2 : SCREEN LIMITS

This one is a no-brainer, but this is where being PROACTIVE comes into play. Again, discussing this now, so everyone is on the same page can prevent summer from being too tense when expectations differ! How much time, when, with whom? Daily or weekly limits? What COUNTS as “screen time,” etc! This is a great time for parents and other caregivers to evaluate their own screen usage and perhaps set personal limits for themselves as well.

Summer Success Tip #3 : FAMILY COMPETITIONS

This is s afun one for us! We have had water drinking and step counting compeitions in the past – and I amconsidering doing a laundry compeition too! 🙂 This is a great way to set goals as a family and engage in some healthy competition along the way! You can set individual or even family prizes if everyone meets their goals!

Summer Success Tip #4 : DAILY CHECK INS

Not too hard, but the consistency of this is what matters most! Having a short daily time where everyone looks at one another and checks-in. Either with a HIGH/LOW or Scale of 1 – 10, or one of the many other simple question techniques to make sure everyone in the family is connecting and being heard each day.

Summer Success Tip #5 : FRIENDSHIP GOALS

Who do you and your kiddos want to connect with this summer? Start reaching out and making plans now to find out when and IF this willbe possible! Are weekly hang outs or meet ups possible? Double checking that the people you plan to conenct with will be around and are open to strenghtening your relationships during these three months can be a HUGE key to a HAPPY summer for everyone!

    I ALSO HAVE A COOL THING…

The FIERCE GIRLS SUMMER SUCCESS BOX is releasing soon, so if you have agirl in your life who you want to encourage, empower, and see smile – this would be the perfect gift!

I don’t have a daughter … NO WORRIES! There are still many ways for you to help! You or your business could sponsor* a box for a girl, or purchase one for your niece, granddaughter, or neighbor! Reach out to me with any logistical questions about how to do this!

*sponsors will be highlighted on erintarr.com and across Be the Benchmark social media challenges as well as in the boxes themselves each month!
