Deal with Discouragement – The Four G’s

by | Mar 28, 2021 | her emotions, her future | 0 comments

When you are discouraged.

We all experience discouragement.

Reasons you could be discouraged right now include:

  • having eight or more weeks left of school, and you are just over it at this point
  • all of your friends are getting together and having fun, and you’re still stuck at home
  • your parents are driving you insane with their expectations and nagging and you feel like you will never be good enough
  • you feel like you always get the “short end of the stick”

Think about why you are discouraged right now (if you are), and know you are in good company. We all experience it.

When you are discouraged, there are FOUR G’s you need.

GURU to help you reflect.

A guru is a teacher or intellectual guide, a person with knowledge or expertise. When discouraged, you need a guru. Someone who has knowledge or expertise in the area that you are seeking to overcome, and help you reflect on the issues. Then they can help you move through the discouragement with encouragement, advice & wisdom.

GROUP to help you relax.

Your group are the 3 to 5 people who you can be yourself around. People who you can have fun with and just relax and enjoy life. When we are discouraged, we often feel depressed, overwhelmed, and anxious … getting OUT of the head space and just doing something fun with your group of friends is a GREAT step towards getting perspective on the issues.

GUIDEBOOK to give you direction.

A guidebook may be a holy or religious text (if you are a religious person). Or your guidebook may be one of the plethora of personal development books that line the shelves these days. Finding a book that can give you encouragement, as well as a plan for moving forward is an instrumental piece for overcoming discouragement.

One of my favorite guidebooks is “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey. I like it SO MUCH that the first 8 years of my coaching business based on the tenants of that book. Since college, I have read MANY MANY MANY guidebooks, and I am currently in the process of WRITING one! (How to Rule the School – 7 Steps to Embracing Your FIERCEST Self!)  If you need guidance on which guidebook might be good for you (sidenote: they are all very similar in nature with slight variations in format & storytelling) – just send me a message!

GOOD HABITS to keep you grounded.

If you have listened to any of my previous videos, or worked one on one with me, or been in one of my coaching programs …you know that good habits are like a drum that I beat constantly. If you do not have good SLEEPING, EATING & ACTIVITY habits – I will always come for those first. If you are feeling discouraged – taking a 24 hour period to evaluate your sleep, fuel & fitness, and you might find some quick help to get you back on the right track.

If you are discouraged about something today and want to get into a healthier mindset and move forward with joy and conviction, seek out the FOUR G’s: GURU, GROUP, GUIDEBOOK & GOOD HABITS.

Girls, hear me out… you are more powerful than you can ever imagine.

If you implement these four supports they will help you to CHOOSE the best, most powerful, most encouraging, most grateful, most positive thoughts.

When you do that you can CREATE an amazing life for yourself, that you are so excited to wake up for every single day.

And at that point, you have everything you need to go out and CHANGE the world for the better.

If you are interested, I would love to help you do that all of these thing.

Let me know how I can support you ….

  • Can I be your “guru”?
  • Can I help you find a group of friends?
  • Can I suggest guidebooks to you?
  • Can I support you as you develop your good habits?

All of those things I am ready and willing to do so feel free to reach out any time.

Girls, keep choosing your thoughts.

Go create a life you love.

Because I know you’re going to change the world.
